SOUTH PARIS – The Oxford Hills Youth Football Program is an excellent way to introduce kids to the sport of Football. The objectives of the program are to teach students in the Oxford Hills region the fundamentals of football. It is sponsored by the Oxford Hills Athletic Boosters and is available for students entering grades 1 through 6. Fifth and sixth-graders are provided a complete set of football pads and equipment and play tackle football. Third and fourth-grade players are equipped with helmets and shoulder pads and play flag football. First and second-grade kids are given Team Tee Shirts and play flag football.

Registration will be held Thursday, August 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, August 18 from 9 a.m. to noon. Students entering grades 3 through 6 will receive equipment at registration.

Practice for Grades 5-6 will start on Tuesday, August 21 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Grades 3-4 will start Monday, August 27 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Grades 1-2 will start Tuesday, Sept. 4 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. All practices will be at the high school. Auburn Falcons football registration underway

AUBURN – Auburn Recreation Falcons head coach Brad Sloat encourages seventh and eighth graders to sign up now for another exciting season of football.

Varsity and junior varsity squads will compete in the Western Maine Football League. While sportsmanship, physical fitness, participation and recreation are emphasized, league competition is spirited and exciting.

Practice begins Monday, August 20 at Chestnut Street Field and continues each weekday throughout the season. Games are typically played mid-week depending upon field availability.

Participants must show proof of a sports physical within two years of the start of the season, prior to receiving equipment or attending practice. All uniforms and football equipment are issued. Players must provide all personal protection equipment and rubber-cleated shoes.

By WMFL rules, only players living in Auburn are eligible for the program. Minot, Poland and Mechanic Falls have created their own program. All players must be younger than 15 on October 15 of this season.
