Musical benefit
RUMFORD – A musical benefit for Alan Bradford will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Teena’s Restaurant.
Musicians to perform will include Jim Austin, Kenny Chapman, Denny Breau, Frank Coffin and Jim Viger. Donations will be accepted at the door. There will be food, beverages, 50-50 and gift certificates.
Bradford, a local land surveyor, was recently diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma.
Seniors picnic
HANOVER – The Bethel Senior Citizens Club will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Stoney Brook Campground for a picnic. Members will bring a salad or dessert to share.
Bean supper
RUMFORD – A public bean supper will be held at St. Athanasius St. John Church Hall from 4:45 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4. The menu will include Beans, ham, chop suey, rolls, assorted drinks and strawberry shortcake. Cost is $6 for adults; $5, children.
Vacation school
RUMFORD – The United Methodist Church, 455 Linnell St., invites children to become Sky Scouts at Vacation Bible School, “Lift Off! Soaring to New Heights with God,” from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, Aug. 6 to 10. Children in kindergarten through grade eight are invited.
The program will offer interactive activities that combine the world of hot air ballooning with the discovery of how to reach new heights with God. Each lesson will be supported with Bible stories, memory verses, songs, crafts, games and snacks. For more information, call Dee Holman at 369-0746.
