CODA rehearsals

WINTHROP – September marks the 40th anniversary of the first concert of CODA Chorus. In celebration of the occasion, anyone who has sung with CODA is invited to join for the fall season.

A special choral festival with area school choruses is planned for the latter part of October. Christmas concerts are scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 9, in Winthrop and Sunday, Dec. 16, in Augusta.

The Community Organists and Directors Association began as a small group of singers from Winthrop area churches. Christmas concerts have been presented each year in Winthrop, and beginning in 1992 spring concerts have been presented annually as well. Since 2003 the University of Maine at Augusta Senior College has sponsored an Augusta concert for both seasons.

CODA is open to everyone; no auditions are required. Each year a music scholarship is presented to a student from Maranacook, Monmouth or Winthrop.

CODA Chorus is a nonprofit organization and relies on the generosity of its advertisers. Delmar Small of Litchfield is the music director, and Ed Larson of Wayne is accompanist. Rehearsals are held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays at the Winthrop United Methodist Church, Main Street.
