New Beginnings board plans 5k Race

LEWISTON – The New Beginnings board met recently to plan the fourth annual 5k Race. Taking part were Fundraising Chair Chris Ferguson and Race Committee members Celeste Yakawanis, Rebekah Frechette, Brenda McCannell and Chandra Sasseville.

The race will be held on Sunday Oct. 14, at the Multi-Purpose Center on Birch Street. The officially timed event has attracted runners from around the state, and plans are being made to expand it this year to include a Tot Trot and Diaper Race for young children.

New Beginnings is a Lewiston-based nonprofit agency, which provides emergency shelter, transitional living, street outreach and HIV prevention education for youth. Companies or individuals interested in being a race sponsor can reach New Beginnings at 795-4077.
