LEWISTON – The first Andy Valley Umpires Corporate Co-Ed softball tournament (formerly the United Way tourney) is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 8.

Rain date is Sept. 15. Rules are as follows:

– 12 teams maximum.

– Only corporate sponsors are eligible. Participants must be employed or be an immediate family member 17 or older.

– Two home runs allowed per male batter. All other home runs will be outs. Females may hit unlimited home runs.

– Teams must maintain four females in the field. Lineups must not exceed two male batters in a row, or an automatic out will be recorded.

– An intentional walk to a male batter will be two bases.

– Maximum 15 players per team. T-shirts will be provided by tournament director.

– Batters will start with one-ball, one-strike count.

– Trophies will be awarded for first and second place.

Fee is $200 per team. Make checks payable to Tony Gowell, P.O. Box 520, Sabattus, Maine 04280.

Tripp Middle School football announcements

TURNER – Coach Jim Hersom announces that equipment for the Tripp Middle School seventh and eighth-grade football team will be handed out Monday, August 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the school. First practice is Monday, August 20 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Players must have proof of a recent physical before they will be allowed to practice.

Auburn Rec fall meeting

AUBURN – Auburn Recreation Department will hold its Co Rec Fall League meeting Tuesday, August 7 at Hasty Community Center. Starting time is 6 p.m. For more information, call 784-0191.
