OXFORD – The Oxford Historical Society will hold a flea market/yard sale and food sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Kay House, Pleasant Street, next to the Oxford Town Office.
Proceeds will go toward maintaining the Kay House/Oxford Historical Society Building.
The building has many hidden features, and they can be seen by taking a tour of the barn, newly added “old school room” and the house, which has antique furnishings and accessories. It is also a repository for vital records for the residents, both past and present.
Over the years scrapbooks, pictures and memorabilia have been left to share with the public. Several “banners” made by the graduating classes that attended the “old Oxford High School” are on display.
The “old school room” was put together as a project by a local Boy Scout who was working on his Eagle Scout Badge. He designed a project and used items that the Oxford Historical Society received over the years when a school or building in the town was renovated or torn down.
