Maureen S. Bayer of West Paris received a juris doctor, cum laude, and a master of studies in environmental law, magna cum laude, during Vermont Law School’s commencement ceremony on May 19.

Prior to law school, Bayer received a bachelor’s degree in freshwater ecology from Hampshire College. She is the daughter of Tom Light and Wendy Allen of West Paris.

While at Vermont Law School, Bayer served as the secretary for the Environmental Law Society for the 2005-2006 school year. In addition, she was a Visiting Student at the University of California, Hastings College of Law, in 2007.

Bayer will continue legal work in the realm of water rights in northern California.
