WOODSTOCK – The town’s 2007 Sterling plow truck will be ready for service before the end of next week, Town Manager Vern Maxfield told selectmen Tuesday night.

Maxfield told the board that Tenco Equipment of Berwick will have the body with built- in sander, plow, wing and accessories installed by then and the truck will be delivered and ready to go.

Purchased from a Lancaster, N.H., company in late spring, the truck replaces two older trucks.

In other highway-related business, it was decided to put the winter sand and salt project out to bid. According to Maxfield, there will only be a need for between 1,200 and 1,400 cubic yards this year due to the mild winter of 2006-07.

“We won’t need to order a large amount this year, but want to be sure we have enough to get us through if this coming winter proves to be more severe,” he said.

Maxfield told the board that Pike Industries will be doing the summer paving work soon.

Selectmen voted to purchase a single-axle trailer from resident Rick Farnum for hauling the town’s two lawn tractors. Maxfield told the board he had an offer from Farnum set at $1,000, and the money is available in the town’s grounds care account.
