Rep. Nancy Smith, right, D-Monmouth, wishes State Law Librarian Lynn Randall a happy retirement at a gathering at the State House in Augusta. Randall and Smith are neighbors in Monmouth, and during the legislative session, Smith co-sponsored a special sentiment recognizing Randall’s years of service to the state. Randall received an undergraduate degree from the University of Maine and master’s degree from the School of Library Service at Columbia University. She began working in the State Law and Legislative Reference Library as a clerk in 1978 and began serving as the state law librarian in 1988. Randall has served as president of the Maine Library Association and president of the Law Librarians of New England, as well as placement chairwoman of the American Association of Law Libraries.
