HUDSON (AP) – The body of a 76-year-old man who went boating Sunday night and never returned was found Monday along the eastern shore of Little Pushaw Pond, the Maine Warden Service said.

Norman Whitney, who lived along the pond, had gone for a ride in his 10-foot outboard-powered pontoon boat, which was spotted about a half mile from where his body had washed up, said Mark Latti, spokesman for the warden service.

Whitney was not wearing a life jacket, although there was one in the boat, Latti said.

The body was transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for a determination on cause of death.
