LEWISTON – The Boy Scouts of America and Pine Tree Council have announced the arrival of a new troop serving Lewiston/Auburn and the surrounding communities.

Troop 007 will be chartered by the Vineyard Christian Church on Foss Road and will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays beginning in September.

The troop will offer a full range of scouting activities, including camping, hiking and canoeing as well as skill development, which guides today’s youth to become tomorrow’s leaders.

Adult leaders of the troop include Bob Reed, Scoutmaster; Mike Morin and Tim Cowan, assistant Scoutmasters; and Lisa Bussiere, committee chairwoman.

They and other leaders combine to offer more than 100 years of scouting experience to youth in the community.

The program is open to any boy who will be in at least the sixth grade but not yet having turned 18.

For more information, contact Reed at 782-5482.

Troop 007 is also looking for donations, including camping equipment, for those youth who do not have access to or cannot afford to purchase equipment on their own.

Contact Morin at 795-0015 with donations.
