Monmouth Post 204 will resume its quest for the Northeast Regional American Legion baseball title today with a game today at 10 a.m. against Warwick Post 42 of Warwick, Rhode Island in Burlington, VT.

Monmouth was originally scheduled to play Friday on the back end of an afternoon doubleheader, but the game had to be pushed back a day after the final game of Thursday’s opening round between Warwick and St. Johnsbury Post 21 was suspended due to rain Thursday night. That game was completed Friday with Warwick winning, 9-7.

Monmouth won its first game of the double-elimination tournament on Thursday, 13-8, over Manchester, NH.

In Friday’s other action, Brockton, MA defeated South Burlington, Vt., 4-3 in 10 innings. Manchester bounced back and eliminated host St. Johnsbury with a 7-4 victory, and Branford, CT knocked off Edison, NJ, 12-5.

If Monmouth beats Warwick today, it will move on to face Branford, CT. If it loses, it will face Brockton, MA, with the loser going home.

Branford, CT is the only unbeaten team through the first two days of the tournament.
