AUBURN – Jesse Lacasse walloped a 3-run homer in the 7th and Richard Doble pitched the last 5 innings for the win as the Central Maine Green Wave edged the Auburn White Sox 5-4 Thursday night in a Central Maine Senior Men’s Baseball League tilt waged at Auburn Suburban LL.

The Sox took a 2-0 lead in the first inning as Dan Coleman had an RBI single and Jay Russell an RBI ground out. The Wave tied the game in the 4th. That set the stage for Lacasse’s heroic blast. The Sox rallied for 2 in the bottom of the 7th but it wasn’t enough.

The Sox, now 8-4, will take on the West Paris Westies Sunday morning at Auburn Suburban. The Wave, 6-5, travels to Lisbon High Sunday to battle the Topsham Knights.

Westies edge Outlaws

HARRISON – Brian Cox hurled 5 solid innings of relief and Mark Hreben and Wes Smith provided the offensive spark as West Paris cooled off the Great Falls Outlaws 4-3 in the Central Maine Senior Men’s Baseball League.

Cox allowed just 5 hits and 1 run in relief of starter Mike Godin. Hreben banged 2 hits and scored the game-winning run. Smith crushed a 2-run homer to left center.

The Outlaws took a 2-0 lead in the first on RBI hits by Dave Coburn and Chris Reed. Smith’s homer came in the 5th to tie the score.

Great Falls regained the lead in the 6th. Val Beaudet scored on a hit by Scott Berube. The Westies again tied the game in the 6th on a Hreben single.

After a scorelesss 7th, the Outlaws started a rally in the 8th that ended with a wild triple play. With 2 on and no outs, Rod Bates popped up a sacrifice bunt that was determined to be caught by the pitcher. In the ensuing confusion, both runners were caught off base.

In the last of the 9th with the bases loaded and no outs, Godin’s fly ball to right fell just inside the foul line and the game was over.

Greg Massey was the tough-luck loser in a complete game effort. Coburn, Reed, Berube, Beaudet and Bates were all repeat hitters.
