WEST PARIS – Town officials from West Paris, Paris and Greenwood began finalizing a plan to share an emergency management agency director in a joint meeting Thursday.

They reviewed copies of EMA job descriptions and decided to draw sections from each and add a few sections.

The group called for deadlines for regular reports to guarantee communications with each town.

West Paris selectman and group chair Dennis Henderson said, “We all will need to be on the same page and to do that we will need regular, perhaps monthly, reports so we know how the director is affecting the job.”

Greenwood Town Manager Kim Sparks volunteered to draw up a final draft of the job description. It was decided to advertise the position in local newspapers and the Maine Municipal Association Web site and ask that applications be submitted by Sept. 13. The group will reconvene then at the West Paris town office to screen applications and set up interviews.

Woodstock may still join the group, but no final decision has been made by selectmen there.

Attending Thursday’s meeting were selectmen Dennis Henderson and Randy Jones along with West Paris Town Manager John White. From Paris was Town Manager Sharon Jackson and Fire Chief Brad Frost. Representing Greenwood was Town Manager Kim Sparks and Selectman Fred Henderson.
