Block party
LEWISTON – The 100 Pine Wellness and Recovery Center will have a block party from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1.
Pierce Street will be blocked off between Pine and Ash streets.
This is a fundraising event with a yard sale, bake sale, craft sale, barbecue, car wash and other events.
Farmers’ market
LEWISTON – The Lewiston Farmers’ Market will be open from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, in Kennedy Park near the corner of Bates and Pine streets.
There will be Celtic flute and guitar music performed by local musician Debbie Leschinski and the Maine Chapter Sierra Club booth will have information.
There will also be baked goods, Maine specialty foods, cooking demonstrations, free recipes and food samples and booths with information on health and wellness.

Legion meeting
LISBON FALLS – Nelson-Conley Post 66, American Legion, will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the Slovak Meeting Room, Avery Street.

Woodmen events
AUBURN – Modern Woodmen District Representative Deborah J. Wagemann has announced two events for September.
Saturday, Sept. 8: Community Day Duck Race in Oxford, 2 p.m. Cost is $10. First prize is $500; second prize, $300; third prize, $100; and last duck, $100. Tickets may be purchased at the Modern Woodmen Camp 8794 office, 67 Minot Ave., Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or by calling 1-800-561-8506.
Saturday, Sept. 22: Kids Day America/International Crime Prevention/Child Safety/Envi- ronmental Issues, noon to 3 p.m., at Pettingill Elementary School, 409 College St., Lewiston. Gift bags will be given to the first 150 children. No tickets are needed for this event.

Players needed
LEWISTON – Seniors are wanted to play cribbage and pinochle at the Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birth St.
Games will begin Thursday, Sept. 6, and will continue every Thursday until the last week of April. A banquet will be held the first Thursday in May 2008.
Registration for cribbage begins at 8 a.m. and game play starts at 9. Registration for pinochle begins at noon and play starts at 1 p.m. For more information, call the Multi-Purpose Center at 784-2926.
Extension meeting
FALMOUTH – The Cumberland County Extension Association’s 2007 annual meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Tidewater Farm, 200 Presumpscot Point Road.
