GORHAM – India Lowe notched a pair of second half goals to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies field hockey team to a 2-1 victory over Gordon College Wednesday.

Lowe tallied her first goal unassisted in the 38th minute, while her eventual game-winning goal was netted on an assist from Samm Johnson, who picked up the ball following a corner in the 50th minute.

The Huskies open their season 2-0 for the first time since 1999.

Allie Hill made four saves to earn her second win of the season.

Gordon (1-2) cut into the USM lead with one minute remaining in the game off a goal from Mollie Sweeney.

Southern Maine 3, Thomas 0

GORHAM – Junior midfielder Greg Cox scored a goal and added two assists to lead the University of Southern Maine to a 3-0 victory over Thomas in a non-conference matchup Wednesday afternoon.

Sinisa Bajic and Tim Murphy also tallied for the Huskies (3-0-0) to complete the scoring. David Kreps made five saves in net to preserve the shutout. Russell Beckwith turned aside eight shots between the posts for the Terriers (2-1-0).
