JAY – Whitney Mills scored her second goal of the game with less than seven minutes remaining in the second half to lift Telstar to a 3-2 victory over Jay in MVC field hockey action Wednesday.

Bailey Davis also tallied for the Rebels (2-0), while Amanda Wiley contributed with an assist. Briana Douglass made six saves in net to notch the win.

The Tigers (1-1) received goals from Katie Nemi and Katie Hall, while Shayna Meserve was credited with an assist. Brenda Allen turned aside three shots in net for Jay.

Winthrop 2, Hall-Dale 0

WINTHROP – Brianna Tupper registered both Winthrop goals in the second half to post the 2-0 win over Hall-Dale in an MVC field hockey match-up.

Tupper’s first goal was scored midway through the second half off a pass from Kenzie Hill. The Ramblers’ (2-0) insurance goal came with just 13 seconds left, as Tupper poked in a goal shin high after collecting a pass from Jill Ouellette. Kayla Kimball had a strong game at center halfback for Winthrop, making several key defensive plays. Emily Vickerson needed to make just six saves to preserve the shutout win.

Lisbon 3, Livermore Falls 2

LIVERMORE FALLS – Mikayla Stevens scored with just 13 minutes remaining in regulation to lift Lisbon to a 3-2 victory over Livermore Falls in MVC action. Katie Fitzgerald and Kelsey Picke also tallied goals for the Greyhounds (1-1) to complete the scoring. Monika Lakin turned back 14 shots in net to post the win.

The Andies (0-2) received both goals from Whitney McDaniel, while Chelsea Bilodeau and Hannah Terrien contributed with assists. Caylee Morris made 11 saves for Livermore Falls.

Soccer

Oak Hill 3, MCI 2

WALES – Skye Boulette, Maggie O’Connell, and Becca Belaire scored consecutive goals within 10 minutes of each other in the second half to post a 3-2 win over MCI in KVAC soccer action.

Kim Hinkley assisted on the Boulette and Belaire goals, while O’Connell scored unassisted for the Raiders (1-1).

Tiffany McLaggan scored the first MCI goal w while Emily Fowle was credited with the second goal nine minutes left in the contest after Oak Hill knocked the ball into their own net.

Hall-Dale 3, Wiscasset 0

WISCASSET – Aimee Pelletier led a trio of players register first-half goals for Hall-Dale as it rolled to a 3-0 shutout over Wiscasset. Lindsay Nyitray and Michelle Severance also tallied for the Bulldogs (2-0), while Kerry Fredette, Brittany Ladner and Amy Skillings were all credited with assists. Ali Godbout needed only five saves to preserve the shutout.

Michell Miete turned aside 10 shots in net for Wiscasset (1-1).

Georges Valley 1, Lisbon 0

LISBON – Nicole Poland tallied an unassisted goal with 18:29 remaining in regulation to lift Georges Valley to a 1-0 victory over Lisbon in another MVC girl’s soccer matchup.

Ashley Geel needed only one save in net to record the shutout.

Samantha Purcell stopped 12 shots for the Greyhounds (1-1).

Mt. Abram 1, Dirigo 1

DIXFIELD – Mt. Abram and Dirigo fought through two overtimes to draw to a 1-1 tie in girls’ soccer action Wednesday afternoon.

Both goals were scored in the second half, with Mt. Abram (1-0-1) getting on the board first with an unassisted goal by Maria Parrett five minutes into the half. Dirigo (0-1-1) tied the contest with five minutes left in the half with a Tricia Turner goal off a feed from Carrie Jamison.

Lanette Bryant stopped 24 shots for the Cougars, while Kenni Norton made eight saves for the Roadrunners effort.

Monmouth 4, Mtn. Valley 1

MONMOUTH – Jenn Lola had a strong performance, scoring three goals and recording two assists to lead Monmouth to a 4-1 win over Mountain Valley.

Suzi Chick scored a goal for the Mustangs (1-0). Jill Armstrong and Erika Ducharne had solid games defensively.

Mountain Valley’s (1-2-0) lone goal was notched by Terissa Ridge unassisted 23:14 into the first half.
