FITCHBURG, Mass. – Junior Darcey Ward scored the only goal of the game 4:19 into the first overtime to lift St. Joseph’s to a 1-0 victory over Fitchburg State in field hockey action Thursday.
Sophomore Julia Ostrowski set up the game-winner for the Monks (2-0) with a superb feed into the box that beat goaltender Emily Creen.
Creen made three stops for the Falcons (0-1), while freshman goalie Kathleen Simoes turned away all four shots she faced to record the win.
