PORTLAND – Police are investigating a motorcycle accident at 93 Warren Ave. that claimed the life of a 29-year-old Portland man early Saturday morning.

Portland police were witholding the identity of the crash victim Sunday night. However, an obituary submitted to the Sun Journal by Bragdon-Finley Funeral Home in Monmouth identified the man as Agustin Figueroa of Allen Avenue in Portland.

According to a Portland police press release, Figueroa was driving down Warren Avenue toward Forest Avenue at 12:36 a.m. when the crash occurred.

Police want to know what caused Figueroa, a Monmouth Academy graduate, to crash the 2004 Suzuki motorcycle he was operating.

When contacted Sunday night, police could not say if another vehicle or person was involved in the fatal accident.

Figueroa was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, the press release said.

Police are requesting that anyone who may have witnessed the accident to call the Portland Police Department Traffic Unit at 874-8532.
