GARDINER – Something new is coming to Johnson Hall’s Center Stage series. It’s a Wingnut, actually a bunch of nuts that make up an improvisational comedy troupe known for its high-energy comedy, fast-paced games word play and commercial spoofs.
The Wingnuts will bring its Comedy without a Net program to the Johnson Hall Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29.
Throughout the evening The Wingnuts improv troupe will take suggestions for scenes, problems and locations from the audience.
The Wingnuts has performed throughout Maine since 1999, taking ordinary things and situations like a washing machine or a day at the office and incorporating them into a hilarious skit.. Maybe it’s Jack Sparrow or Scooby Doo (master impersonator Duane Glover) who shows up to fix the washing machine. Perhaps sisters Tang and One Too Lo (aka Lisa Picard, “the woman who knows no bounds,” and Penny “the punster” Carver) take over at the office, ensuring absolutely noting gets done.
Maybe Nancy O., “the storyteller,” will spin a yarn about laundry; or Susie “sweet stuff” DeRoehn will moderate a fierce office competition over stapler rights.
Seating is limited so reservations are recommended. Call 582-7144 or e-mail [email protected]. Tickets are $15 for adults, child under 13, $10. Series tickets, $39; child series, $24. A new $1 building restoration fee will be added.
Johnson Hall Performing Arts Center is at 280 Water St. More information, log on to www.johnsonhall.org.
