SUMNER – A representative from the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife will make a presentation Wednesday on the protection of natural resources.

Steve Walker, project manager for Beginning with Habitat, will speak at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at the town office.

According to Beginning with Habitat’s Web site, the organization’s goal is to preserve animal and plant habitats by providing Maine’s towns with information about habitats in their area.

Town Clerk Susan Runes said part of Sumner’s comprehensive plan addresses the protection of natural resources. The plan was approved by the town last year and is being revised to meet state requirements.

The talk is sponsored by the Sumner Comprehensive Plan Implementation Committee.

It is the first in a possible series of informational talks to be presented by the committee.
