Benefit supper
NORTH WATERFORD – A benefit supper will be held for Nancy Barker from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at the North Waterford Congregational Church. Menu will include casseroles, salad, beverages and desserts. Takeout will be available. Cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12.
Blood drive
BRIDGTON – An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at the Bridgton Academy, Route 37.
Sunday services
NORWAY – Services at the First Universalist Church, 479 Main St., will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday. The church is served by the Rev. Richard Beal. His sermon on Sunday, Sept. 30, is titled “What Doth the Holy Require of Thee?” The choir rehearses at 9:30 a.m. Sundays, and all who like to sing are welcome. Child care is provided for the 11 a.m. service.
Society to meet
HARTFORD – The Hartford Heritage Society will meet at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at the J&O Irish Museum.
Talk on mining
GREENWOOD – The Greenwood Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the society building on Main Street. Frank Perham will give a program on his mining experiences. Everyone is welcome.
Flea market
WEST PARIS – There will be a flea market and crafts sale on Saturday, Oct. 20, at the West Paris Grange Hall, Church Street. It will include a flea market, crafts and bake sale.
The kitchen will offer corn chowder, sandwiches and hot and cold beverages. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. For table rental, call 674-3241. It is sponsored by West Paris Grange 298.
Recycling
PARIS – The Team 1 Gremlins at Oxford Hills Middle School are having a recycling fundraiser Monday, Oct. 1, until Friday, Dec. 21. Residents are asked to donate used digital cell phones, ink jet cartridges, DVD movies/video games, portable DVD players, laptop/notebook computers, MP3 players, digital cameras, digital picture frames and portable navigation and GPS devices.
All of the proceeds will help fund Team 1.
Donations should be sent or brought to Oxford Hills Middle School, Attn: Team 1, 100 Pine St., Paris, ME 04281.
Blood drive
BUCKFIELD – There will be an American Red Cross blood drive from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the Buckfield High School, sponsored by John D. Long Post 58.
