LEWISTON – Three clubs are still unbeaten after 3 weeks of play in the Lewiston-Area Football League for Youth (FLY). One is in the Senior Division and the other two in the Junior Division.
In Senior action, the Lisbon Street Getty Mart Redskins ran their record to 3-0 with a 26-12 victory over the Steelers. Derrick Peters had a standout performance on both sides of the ball, He scored touchdowns on runs of 28- and 48-yards, and was the leading tackler on defense (8 tackles and 2 sacks). Stephen Hinkley added a 39-yard TD and Casey Thurlow put the icing on the cake with a 57-yard scamper into paydirt. Having a fine blocking game were Kevin St. Pierre, Letavian Sands and John Goulet. Defensively, Thurlow was credited with 6 tackles and 2 sacks. St. Pierre also had 6 tackles and Shuaib Naji 3. Ryan Jones had a quarterback sack and Hinkley added an interception. Having a good game for the Steelers were Matthew Wooten, Jacob Kendall and Deion Jenkins.
In the other Senior contest, the Giants beat the Lions 14-7.
Junior Division
The Northeast Athletics Junior Redskins improved to 3-0 with a 21-0 win over the Steelers. William Adams scored the first TD. Also playing well were Tyler Palmer, Keyshawn Green, Christian Fowler and Austin Greeley. The Steelers were led by Isaac Escobar, Tyler Marquis and Ashley Lord.
Grimmel’s Gas-Up Junior Giants stayed unbeaten a third game with a 13-7 decision over Morin’s Photo Lions. Quintarian Brown scored on a 40-TD run and Ryan Bell tallied a touchdown from 8-yards out. Josh Knight added an extra point. Defensive standouts for the Giants were Zach Abisalih and Brown. Having a fine game for the Lions were Legend Edwards, Chris Thomas and Ace Curry. Sheon James scored the lone TD.
