LEWISTON – Bates scored three times in a span of 14 minutes to post a 3-1 win over Husson in field hockey action Wednesday.
Rachel Greenwood and Lindsey Ferguston each scored on penalty corners, and Emily Sampson converted a pass from first-year Sema Kazarian for the Bates win.
Husson’s Elisha Dorso closed the gap to 3-1 in the 70th minute, assisted by her sister, Erica Dorso.
Men’s Soccer
Husson 4, UMF 0
BANGOR – Anthony Martinez registered a hat trick Wednesday to lead Husson to a 4-0 victory over the University of Maine at Farmington. Miroshi Iwabuchi also tallied for Husson to complete the scoring. Miguel Dominguez made four saves in net to preserve the shutout.
Brian Lemont and Matt Dennett split time between the posts for UMF, with Lemont credited for 14 saves.
Women’s Soccer
St. Joseph’s 7, Suffolk 1
STANDISH – Anna Willis netted a pair of goals as the St. Joseph’s women’s soccer team dominated over Suffolk 7-1 Wednesday afternoon. Jessica Needham, Brianna Jordan, Elizabeth McCarthy, Elisabeth Theberge, and Allie Smith all scored for the undefeated Monks (11-0) as well.
Jamie Tracy scored the lone goal for Suffolk (0-7).
Bowdoin 2, Husson 0
BRUNSWICK – Rebecca Silva one-timed a ball, while Alex von Gerichten netted the first goal of her career to lead Bowdoin to a 2-0 win over Husson on Wednesday.
Bowdoin controlled hte pace of play throughout the contest, out-shooting Husson 21-3. Kat Popoff and Kelly Thomas split time in net for the Polar Bears, combining for two saves.
Southern Maine 2, Framingham State 0
GORHAM – Samantha Rennie and Lindsay Herzog each scored as the University of Southern Maine blanked Framingham State 2-0 in women’s soccer action.
Rennie put home a rebound off teammate Natasha Levandowski, while Herzog headed-in a corner kick taken by Caitlin Brown for the two Husky goals.
UMF 3, Maine Maritime 1
CASTINE – Chelsea Norton netted a pair of goals to lead the University of Maine at Farmington to a 3-1 victory over Maine Maritime. Amanda Byrne also tallied off an assist from Melissa St. Amand to complete the scoring. Kerry Kowalczyk needed only two saves to record the shutout.
Katie Hutchinson was credited with the lone goal for Maine Maritme (7-4).
Endicott 6, UNE 1
BIDDEFORD – Kellie Lajoie and Caitlin Flynn scored two goals a piece as Endicott College cruised to a 6-1 victory over the University of New England in women’s soccer play. Twin sisters Kayla and Karyn Plante completed Endicott’s scoring.
Mcihelle Epstein knocked in the only UNE goal.
