AUGUSTA (AP) – The latest report from Maine’s Department of Conservation says the best fall colors are in the western lakes and mountain region.
Forest rangers report that vibrant hues of yellow, red and orange will be nearing their peak color over the next week in the tracking zone covering western towns including Jackman, Greenville, Kingfield and Bethel.
Aroostook County in northern Maine also is displaying peak color with moderate, or less than 50 percent, leaf drop.
The department says central and coastal regions are reporting moderate leaf color and low leaf drop.
