The soccer season has been rough for Tripp Middle School girls, who have joined the soccer team, so far this year. Up until the night of October 1st, the varsity girls weren’t communicating well with each other. Yesterday that all changed. We knew our coach was right… if you play hard and be aggressive you’re going to win. Well up until yesterday, we pretty much didn’t get what he was trying to say; it was like overnight everything started coming together. Girls began taking the ball up the side lines and eventually crossing to the middle.

Tori Zupanzic dribbled around four or five Auburn Middle girls and dashed towards the corner line. In her way was an opposing player with her legs opened just enough for the ball to slide through. Zupanzic found the open space, slipped the ball through, and on the other side was Mariah Warren of Tripp Middle. She shot the ball and it bounced off an opponent onto the outside foot of Sydney Nadeau of Tripp. Nadeau took a swing at the ball it rolled to her right and Emily Chase of Tripp Middle took charge of the ball. The goalie leaped, her feet about a foot off the ground, the ball went past her side and Tripp Middle roared of excitement. We were now up by one.

The buzzer rang and the whistles blew, the game was finished. Tripp gathered around the goalie to congratulate one another. We then sprinted over to our Coach, Bob Boprea, and he slapped our hands with a smile upon his face. Captains, Danielle Dubious, Taren McGray, and Tori Zupanzic were proud of their team. We had finally accomplished our goal.

We were the ones who walked away with the win, shaking hands with Auburn, knowing that we had just defeated them, it was pure excitement and pride.

The next day at school everyone on the team got one more string of beads to wear. We are now up to five beads, many more to go. Every goal we score the more our necks will hold, and the higher our heads will be held.
