LISBON FALLS – The Lisbon Junior Athletic League will hold its annual public meeting at l6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at the MTM Center. The board of directors will hold elections for vacant positions at the meeting.

LISBON – The Lisbon Area Widows Fellowship will meet on Monday, Nov. 5, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, School Street. The gathering begins for fellowship at 11:30 a.m. followed by a potluck lunch.

La Survivance

LEWISTON – Connie Brochu will be the guest speaker at the 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, meeting of La Survivance Franaise to be held in the Multi-Purpose Center seniors room.

Brochu will talk about a rare lung condition that still mystifies experts. She will discuss support groups in Boston and Sarasota, Fla., and her 10-day out-patient experience last summer at the National Jewish and Medical Research Center in Denver, Colo., as well as the treatments that will follow the rest of her life.

AUBURN – “The Painted Shul,” a film by Marji Greenhut, will be shown at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at Temple Shalom. The special screening of the documentary film will include a presentation by its producer, Brunswick artist and former Temple Shalom member Marji Greenhut.

The film features the Sephardic Brooklyn synagogue B’nai Yosef, the only actively used synagogue in the world with religious murals. Painted synagogues of the past were either destroyed or now lie in ruins, said Greenhut.

Popcorn and beverages will be served. Admission is free and open to the public.

Weight program

LEWISTON – Central Maine Bariatrics will host an informational program about weight loss surgery on Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Dr. Jamie Loggins, chief of bariatric surgery at Central Maine Medical Center, and members of the center’s professional staff will provide a general overview of obesity and weight loss surgery options. The program will include a question-and-answer session. The free program will be held in the Chairmen’s Rooms on the lower level of the 12 High Street Medical Office Building from 6 to 7:30 p.m. For more information, call Central Maine Bariatrics at 795-5710.

Tree lighting

NEW GLOUCESTER – The annual lighting of America’s smallest municipal Christmas tree, “Tiny Timber,” will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, at the New Gloucester Town Hall, Route 231.

The program will include a performance by the Gray-New Gloucester High School Chorus, a sing-along and refreshments served at the library by library friends and trustees.

Some child will have their name drawn to light “Tiny Timber.”

TURNER – Turner Elementary School will hold its fourth annual craft fair from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12.
