MEXICO – Tips are coming into the Police Department and to the owner of the 1999 white garbage-collection truck stolen from the parking lot of Archie’s Inc. nearly a month ago.

Police Sgt. Roy Hodsdon said the department and Alan Archibald have received about a half dozen tips from various people, including one from a psychic who believes the $100,000 truck is at the bottom of a lake somewhere in the area.

Although the truck has not turned up, Hodsdon said every tip is taken seriously and is being investigated.

Archibald offered a $1,000 reward for the return of the truck about a week ago.

Hodsdon said he hopes to get evidence turned over to the Oxford County District Attorney’s Office for a possible indictment of two men who abandoned a pickup truck in the gravel pit behind Archie’s. The two, who have not yet been named, are believed to have had some role in the garbage truck’s disappearance, as well as in the destruction of a Dumpster at a restaurant near Archie’s.

The department is also following up on a burglary and theft spree they believe to have been carried out by Norman “Bo” Thompson two weeks ago.

Hodsdon said the department is reviewing surveillance tapes from several stores at which Thompson allegedly is spotted using stolen credits cards.

Thompson, of Lewiston and Mexico, is expected to be arraigned on a variety of theft and burglary charges on Nov. 29. He is currently in the Oxford County jail.
