NORWAY – Responsible Pet Care of Oxford Hills and Petfinder.com are celebrating November as Adopt-a-Senior-Pet Month.

“Think of a pet that is already trained and doesn’t chew or scratch everything in sight.”

Some people worry that a senior pet comes with problems, but many people who have adopted older pets would disagree. In most cases they’ve had a home and they want one again. An older animal is easier to deal with and they can still be playful.

An older animal can make be the perfect companion for a senior person who wants a pet but does not want the high energy of a puppy or kitten.

At animal shelters and rescue groups everywhere there are loving, healthy, senior pets looking for that one special home to cherish them for the rest of their life.

Silly Dilly is one of the senior cats at Responsible Pet Care. She is 15 and has difficulty moving around, but she loves to be carried outside where her caregivers watch her while she enjoys the grass and the sunshine.

Silly Dilly sleeps for most of the day. When she’s awake she loves to snuggle in any available lap and give kitty kisses. She has lots of companionship left in her. It would be nice to have her share her life in a home environment.

During Adopt-a-Senior-Pet Month, take the opportunity to get acquainted with the older cats waiting for homes at Responsible Pet Care. Come to the shelter at 132 Waterford Road in Norway and visit with Blacky, Fenway, Furby, Sarah, Simone and the oldest feline resident, Silly Dilly. Or visit the shelter online at www.rpc.petfinder.com.
