LISBON FALLS – The Lisbon Rotary Club will host its 21st annual Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 22, in the Lisbon High School cafeteria, Route 196.

Anyone who would like to join members of the Lisbon Rotary and other community volunteers is welcome to attend, whether alone for the holiday or a first Thanksgiving away from loved ones.

The dinner, which was launched in 1986, is intended for anyone who would like to be with others for a Thanksgiving meal, regardless of income. A success the first year, the event has grown each year and is the Lisbon Rotary Clubs biggest project of the year.

Doors will open at 11 a.m. Thanksgiving Day with hors d’oeuvres and entertainment provided by Dick Waters and his band, Just Friends. Dinner will be served at noon and everyone attending will be presented a boutonniere. Guests can also register for a door prize, a fruit basket and other “goodies.”

Centerpieces, made by Claire Mitchell of Brunswick, will be given away after dinner by random drawings.

Those who would like to attend the dinner should contact Rotary members Ora Madden at the Lisbon Town Office or call 353-3000, ext. 107, e-mail [email protected] or Monica Millhime at 754-0021 or [email protected].

Anyone interested in assisting the Lisbon Rotary by donating homemade pies can also contact Madden or Millhime. Transportation to the high school or a home delivery can also be arranged by contacting a Lisbon Rotarian.

Chef for the day will be Nancy Couture, an instructor at the culinary art program at Central Maine Community College, along with her students. Members of the Lisbon High School Rotary Interact Club, Lisbon Community School Student Council, Lisbon Boy Scouts and other community volunteers will assist with the preparations, serving, deliveries and clean-up.

Rotary President Rubin Cornelius and students of the Interact Club will be the official greeters for the day.
