DIXFIELD – More than $11,500 in automobile parts, accessories and miscellaneous items, including an engine, were recovered last month following the thefts from a Main Street home in June.

Police Chief Richard Pickett said Michael Gatcomb, 23, of Baldwin Hill Road, Fayette, was summoned on theft charges Oct. 10 while he was serving time on other charges in the Franklin County jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 4, then the case will go to the grand jury in January for indictment.

The items were found at a Harlow Hill home by investigating officer Eric Bernier and Dixfield officer Jeff Howe, with assistance from the Mexico Police Department.

A 14-year-old Dixfield boy was summoned Oct. 22 on a charge of theft for taking $95 from a concession stand operated by the Technology Club at Dirigo Middle School. The money was recovered. The boy goes to juvenile court on Jan. 14.

Accidents

A 2005 Ford sports utility vehicle, driven by Amy Jo Beaulieu, 31, Rocky Road, Jay, sustained $500 damage at 6:50 a.m. Oct. 31 on Route 2 when it struck a deer. The deer was injured and officer Eric Bernier shot it.

A 1995 Ford pickup truck, driven by David H. Buck, 39, of Sicotte road, Peru, sustained $2,500 damage at 8:10 a.m. Oct. 18 on Route 142, when it struck a deer. The deer was killed.
