AUGUSTA (AP) – A 33-year-old Monmouth man has been handed a 12-year prison term for his part in a robbery in which a Windsor man who uses a wheelchair was gagged and tied to a refrigerator.

Marc Miville was sentenced in Kennebec County Superior Court for robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, burglary, kidnapping and theft by unauthorized taking. He was given 20 years, with all but 12 years suspended and four years of probation.

Miville and three others were accused of conspiring to rob the home of 89-year-old Shirley Varney and her disabled son, 64-year-old Eugene Varney, on July 8. Eugene Varney was gagged and bound to the refrigerator with nylons, phone cord and twine during the robbery, in which more than $4,000 was taken.

Three other men have pleaded not guilty and remain in jail.
