LEWISTON – The search for a killer continued Tuesday after a body found in the woods along Lisbon Street on Monday was positively identified as Donna Paradis.

The state Medical Examiner’s Office officially declared Paradis’ death a homicide, but police were remaining mum on the cause of death.

Police had said the 38-year-old mother of two was slain and then buried in a shallow grave along an all-terrain trail behind the Promenade Mall.

By Tuesday night, no arrest had been made in the killing. But police said they had learned plenty about Paradis’ last days since they began investigating her disappearance on Oct. 23.

“A great deal of information has been compiled,” said Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

He said evidence collected through interviews, a search of the area where the body was found and information from the M.E.’s office were leading police to potential suspects.

Lewiston police found Paradis’ body Monday afternoon after two days of searching that involved investigators from Maine State Police, the Maine Warden’s Service and the M.E’s office.

Police have not said publicly if they believe Paradis, who was seven months pregnant, was killed on the spot where she was found or if she had been moved there. They also provided no information about how long she had been dead or how she had been killed.

“We’re not getting into that,” McCausland said.

Paradis was last seen Oct. 23 after she left her day job at Affiliated Computer Services, which has an office at the Lewiston Mall on East Avenue. Police interviewed co-workers from ACS as part of their investigation. They also talked with co-workers from the Sun Journal where Paradis worked nights.

As the investigation intensifies, police have been updating investigators from the Attorney General’s Office, which will handle prosecution if an arrest is made.

On Lincoln Street on Tuesday, not far from the area where Paradis’ body was found, a sign had been posted announcing: “I love Donna.” The sign was first spotted Monday, around the time police discovered the body. It wasn’t known who put the cardboard sign there.
