Cookbooks out

LEWISTON – The Tri-County Foster and Adoptive Parent Association has produced a cookbook with 285 recipes.

Purchase of the cookbook will benefit the Tri-County Foster and Adoptive Parent Association and the families serving foster children and adopted children in Androscoggin, Oxford and Franklin counties.

The book is priced at $10 a copy, with a fee of $2.50 for those that need it mailed to cover postage and handling. For more information, contact Annette Wilson at 353-7071 or annettemw@roadrunner.com.

Call for artisans

LIVERMORE – Maine artisans and crafters are invited to participate in the Saturday, Dec. 8, “Christmas at Norlands” Festival.

Handmade items reflecting 19th century traditional crafts are being sought to fill the artisans’ emporium for the festival. Items will be selected for consignment sales. Artisans do not need to be present at the event to participate.

The festival at Washburn-Norlands Living History Center is an educational celebration of farm life in the 19th century during the holiday season. There will be numerous 19th century hands-on activities for families.

AIDS quilt here

PORTLAND – A World AIDS Day collaboration will bring 160 panels of the AIDS Memorial Quilt to Portland from Nov. 30 to Dec. 2.

Panels will be displayed in the Casco Bay Room at the Holiday Inn by the Bay at 88 Spring St. At 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, sponsors will host an opening ceremony with a reading of the names of individuals who died from AIDS.

Reps needed

ASSE International Student Exchange Programs is looking for volunteers to serve as area representatives in local communities.

ASSE provides academic year, semester and short-term exchange programs in the United States for high school age students from around the world. Students are age 15 to 18, have passed a series of academic and character requirements and are awaiting an opportunity to embark on their American adventure.

Area representatives recruit and screen prospective host families, interview students to study abroad and supervise the visiting exchange students in their community. They are reimbursed for expenses and are provided with some travel opportunities.
