LEWISTON – The Lewiston Jr. Maineiacs Squirt Travel team shut out a pair of opponents over the weekend, downing Casco Bay, 5-0, and routing Bangor, 9-0.
Kyle Ullrich scored two goals in the Saturday victory over Casco Bay. Ullrich also combined with Luc Dostie to assist the opening goal of the game by Jacob Charest. The Jr. Maineiacs scored four goals in the third period to break open a tight game.
Dostie and Mikaela Brown each picked up a goal in the third-period onslaught. Assists in the final stanza went to Dostie, Jed Drapeau, Jonathan Sturgis, Richard Cooper and goalie Sam Zashut, who also recorded the shutout.
Lewiston exploded from the gate Sunday on the strength of Kyle Morin’s hat trick and a pair of strikes each from Charest and Cody Woodward. Dostie and Ullrich rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece.
Ullrich, Brown, Ben Steele, Ryley Austin, Kiana Melvin, Evan Emerson picked up the assist. Kyle Welsh provided the spotless effort guarding the net.
