LEWISTON – The Finance Authority of Maine has selected WahlcoMetroflex Inc., 29 Lexington St., to receive its Business at Work for Maine award for 2007 for excellence in business.

The award was presented at FAME’s annual meeting in Portland on Nov. 13’s “Showcase Maine.” The award is given to a company that has utilized FAME services to access capital to contribute to the state’s economic well-being. FAME was instrumental in obtaining financing for the buyout in 2001 by John Bader, Steve Boulet, Mike Brousseau, Scott Hall, Roger Poulin and John Powell, as well as for the new 18,000-square-foot addition currently under construction.

During the past six years, and most recently in conjunction with Androscoggin Savings Bank, WahlcoMetroflex has leveraged FAME programs to help expand its sales by 44 percent worldwide and to increase its work force from 73 in 2001 to 130 currently.

WahlcoMetroflex is recognized as a leader in the design, manufacture, installation and service of dampers, expansions joints and bypass diverters used in power plants, refineries, pulp and paper mills, and chemical plants around the world. It operates a 70,000-plus-square-foot facility in the Lewiston Industrial Park and have registered sales agents around the world marketing their products.
