LISBON – Damage was estimated at $10,000 following a fire at the former Baumer Barbershop in Lisbon Falls on Wednesday afternoon.

Lisbon Falls Deputy Fire Chief Michael Robitaille said the fire, which was reported at 3 p.m., started in the ceiling of the building at 10 Main St.

The shop is owned by Mike Raskin of Durham, who is also owner of Dr. Mike’s Madness Cafe next door.

Firefighters had to cut a hole in the roof of the wood-frame structure, he said.

“The firemen’s fast, aggressive attack resulted in the blaze being quickly brought under control and extinguished in about an hour,” he said.

According to neighboring business owners, the building houses Kenroy Patrick’s Central Air Balance Office. Traffic was rerouted around Main Street as firefighters fought the blaze.

Lisbon Falls Fire Co. and Lisbon E.T. Smith hose company responded, as did a Topsham fire crew.

Trucks from Lewiston and Durham filled in at the Lisbon and Lisbon Falls fire stations, respectively.
