LEWISTON – Police have arrested an elderly Sabattus man, charging him with OUI and causing an early afternoon wreck on Lisbon Road.

Kenneth Foisy, 77, of 1142 Litchfield Road, Sabattus, was leaving the Elks Lodge at 1645 Lisbon Road at about 2:20 p.m. Saturday, according to Sergeant Jeffrey Parshall. He was driving a green 2004 Toyota Highlander.

He attempted to turn left out of the Elks Lodge driveway, into the westbound lane of Lisbon Road, but collided with a blue 1984 Mercedes four-door driven by Tiffany Bergeron of 49 Jeffrey St.

“She attempted to steer into the center lane to avoid his car, but it was no luck,” Parshall said.

The impact pushed Bergeron’s car into the westbound lane and Foisy’s car into the eastbound lane.

He estimated damage to both cars at $5,000.

Both Bergeron and an unnamed passenger were taken to Central Maine Medical Center, Parshall said. Bergeron was treated and released.

Foisy was able to walk away from the accident and was taken back to the Lewiston Police Department for breathalyzer test. Parshall would not say what blood alcohol level Foisy tested, but it was sufficient to charge him with an OUI.

The legal limit for Maine drivers is 0.08 percent.

“It was more than high enough,” Parshall said.
