Church supper
RUMFORD – A public bean supper will be held at St. Athanasius and St. John Church basement from 4:45 p.m. until gone Saturday, Dec. 1. The menu will include beans, hot dogs, chop suey, coleslaw, rolls and strawberry shortcake. Cost is $6 adults; $3 children.
Holiday fair
DIXFIELD – Dixfield Congregational Church will hold a Christmas fair on Saturday, Dec. 1. Breakfast will be held at 7:30 a.m. and Santa will be present for photos with the children from 8 to 9 a.m.
Holiday greens can be pre-ordered for specific colors by calling 562-7095. There will be raffles, crafts, 50/50, silent auction, baked goods and men’s table featuring a wheel of cheese. A chicken and biscuit lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.
Christmas party
RUMFORD – An adult Christmas party will be held at the Snowshoe Club on Saturday, Dec. 1. There will be a social hour from 5 to 6 p.m. and roast pork supper at 6 p.m. Music will be provided by Noel Palmer and Don Levesque from 7 to 11 p.m. Cost of tickets is $7 for members, $8 for guests.
Bake sale
MEXICO – There will be a holiday bake sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, to benefit Laura Bellegarde at the Mexico Town Hall. There will be raffles, door prizes and 50/50.
Class dinner
RUMFORD – Members of Stephens High School Class of 1949 will meet Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Zinck’s air field hangar for a Christmas dinner party. A steak dinner, gift exchange of Christmas tree ornaments and a sing-along will be provided. For more information, call 364-2617.

Snowboard school
RUMFORD – The University of Maine at Farmington Ski Industries is offering the Black Mountain Snow Riders program. New last year to Black Mountain of Maine and UMF, the snowboarding school will run lessons for snowboarders of all ages on Friday afternoons for six weeks. This program is designed for children and adults. Beginners and those wanting to improve their riding skills are welcome.
It will run from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Fridays, Jan. 19 to March 7. Cost is $25 a lesson. Ticket are included; rentals are not. For more information or to sign up, call 364-8977.
There will be a season pass photo day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. Photos will be taken for anyone who has purchased their passes and for those who need to purchase. It is the last day to get a pass before the price goes up.
People will get a free day of white water rafting from New England Outdoor Center in Millinocket with a value up to $120 a person.

Food course
RUMFORD – A Serve Safe Food handling course will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday, Dec. 3 to 7, at the River Valley Technology Center, 60 Lowell St. The test will be administered at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8.
The presenter will be Frank Maccarrone, culinary arts program manager in the Oxford Hills School District.
