Pittsfield – Richard “Gramps” Moulton, a Jay resident, was honored recently by Associated Builders and Contractors of Maine and its affiliate, the Downeast Construction Education Foundation, for his longstanding dedication to promoting and advancing craft education.

ABC-Maine presented the award to Moulton at its recent 2007 Craft Championships.

A Cianbro team member since 1980, Moulton lives in Jay with is wife, Virginia. They have six children, 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Retiring from Cianbro in 2006, Moulton spent the final six years of his 45-year career in construction as an ambassador for the company and the industry.

In 2000, Moulton helped design and teach Cianbro’s first formal orientation program for new employees. In that role he became involved with outreach and recruiting visits to high schools and technical centers. This was when he became an integral part of the Craft Championships event, performing the role of “floor-master,” carefully planning floor space and the details essential to successfully putting on an event of this magnitude.
