AUBURN – A Mechanic Falls man convicted years ago of assaulting his toddler son pleaded not guilty Wednesday to sex-related charges involving a girl younger than 16.

Rocky V. Crowley, 47, was in Androscoggin County Superior Court where he entered not guilty pleas to three counts of unlawful sexual touching, two counts of unlawful sexual contact and two charges of sexual abuse of a minor. He was released on personal recognizance after the court appearance.

Two of the charges are felonies, each punishable by up to five years in prison. The alleged crimes occurred between October 2005 and March this year.

Crowley, who lived on Bartlett Street in Lewiston last year, has since moved to Mechanic Falls, where police said Crowley assaulted the teenage girl.

Crowley was sentenced in 1993 to eight years in prison after he was convicted of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the death of his 2½-month-old son, who apparently suffered 29 rib and leg fractures. Crowley, who served five years in prison, was accused of thrashing and throwing the boy, named Chase, who was found dead in a motel where Crowley was staying.
