Fund set up to help daughters of homocide victim Paradis
LEWISTON – Two weeks after the body of Donna Paradis was positively identified, the people she worked for are taking steps to help her family.
At Affiliated Computer Services, with an office on East Avenue, a trust fund has been set up to benefit Paradis’ two daughters.
“Everyone here at ACS was shocked and saddened,” said Tom Clary, director of corporate communications at ACS. “These events have touched our employees, not only in Lewiston but throughout the corporation. We thought this would be an appropriate response.”
Paradis, 38, was seven months pregnant when she was killed. She worked at ACS during the daytime, and was last seen by friends there the afternoon of Oct. 23.
For three weeks, she was listed as a missing person until her body was found in a wooded area less than a mile from the office.
Police say it was a colleague at ACS who lured Paradis to the field where he strangled and buried her. Richard Dwyer, 44, of Canton, was charged with murder in the slaying. He is being held at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn.
Clary said news that Paradis had been killed by a co-worker stunned the ACS community, not only those who worked directly with Paradis but ACS employees around the country.
“You can only imagine the impact this has had on Donna’s colleagues,” Clary said. “It’s safe to say our hearts are with her family.”
Paradis left behind two daughters, 12 and 17 years old, who lived with her in Lewiston. The two are to be the direct beneficiaries of the trust fund, set up by the ACS corporation and Paradis’ friends within the company.
