NORWAY – A reception for the Holiday Group Show at the Commons Art Gallery will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at the Commons Art Collective, 447 Main St.
Featured artists are Misha Tomic, Debra Wentworth, Mary Brooking and Om Devi Reynolds – plus Judy Schneider and Steve Florenz, two new Collective members.
The exhibit will run through Dec. 31.
Florenz will show his folded “reformulated” paper bags and packing materials, which combined provide the wearer with a clever shopping suit. “I have a lot more to say about the reformulating of ordinary throw-away materials than what you might guess from just looking,” he said, adding: “The ‘Universal Shopping Suit’ represents a journey from one use to another, less obvious and more fanciful.”
Some of the paintings Schneider will show are lush, colorful compositions of intimate interiors and exteriors, plus paintings relating her sense of closeness with nature in Maine’s landscape.
Also exhibited will be jewelry and clocks by Brooking; photos by Tomic and Wentworth; and paintings by Brooking and Reynolds.
