LEWISTON – LAYHL Squirt Orange downed Maine Coast Orange, 7-2, in recent hockey action. Kevin Bannister led Lewiston with four goals and an assist. Evan Bowers netted a pair, and Nick Carlin potted his first of the season. Orange assists went to Tyler Poisson and Conrad Grimmer.
Trent Spaulding was strong between the pipes, sllowing only a goal apiece to Jack Becknell and Cody Parker. Jeff Major had the lone assist on Becknell’s goal. Gunner Hilt was in net for Maine Coast.
One day later, LAYHL Orange and LAYHL White skated to a 2-2 deadlock. Goalies Nick Hawk of White and Spaulding of Orange were both outstanding in net. Bowers netted both goals for the visiting Orange team, with Grimmer getting an assist.
Corinne LaBerge scored the first White goal on a beautiful feed from Andrew Loisel. Bobby Chabot got the game-tying tally with under a minute to play.
Owen McCarthy notched the helper to knot up an exciting, well-played contest. Loisel and McCarthy both played excellent two-way hockey.
