LISBON – People interested in learning more about their Police Department will have an opportunity for a unique close-up look at the day-to-day functions of local law enforcement.

The Lisbon Citizens Police Academy will provide people with an inside look at the Police Department and all facets of law enforcement during an upcoming 10-week citizens academy.

Students will be introduced to the police department’s operations – including criminal law, investigation, police patrol procedures, communications, use of force, domestic violence, OUI and drug enforcement.

Also, K-9 programs, accident investigation, crime scene investigation and other courses.

Classes will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Jan. 16 and running through March 19.

Instructors will be Lisbon police officers and participants will have an opportunity to meet the police chief and other department staff members.

The program is intended to foster greater awareness and understanding of law enforcement’s role in the community. It is open to applicants 18 or older who live or work in the Lisbon area.

Applications are available at the police department or on line at lisbonpd.com and several businesses in the downtown Lisbon Falls area.
