BANGOR (AP) – A LaGrange man entered no plea as he made his first court appearance Tuesday on a charge of killing his wife last week in what police called a case of domestic violence.

Jeremy Hart, 34, is being held without bail in the death of Kristin Smart Hart, 25, at their remote home where they lived with their three children.

Hart is accused of shooting his wife on Thursday while she was hiding under their bed.

At a brief hearing in Penobscot County Superior Court, Hart was advised of the murder charge against him. A bail hearing has not been scheduled.

Following the hearing, more than a dozen people were escorted from the courtroom to meet with Maine State Police detectives and a victim-witness advocate for the attorney general’s office.
