LEWISTON – The Jesus Party, Pentecostal kid’s church, invites area inner-city children age 5 and up to three special services, all taking place at the Jesus Party Headquarters, 291 Bates St.

A “Candy Cane Christmas” will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14. Ministry director Doug Taylor will use the candy cane as a lesson, with his sermon examining the colors, shape, taste and its hardness. The evening will be filled with traditional Christmas carols, cookies and candies. The ministry will show a film, “The Legend of the Candy Cane,” an inspirational story.

The 12th annual birthday party for Jesus will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21. Ministry director Sonia Taylor will sit in a rocking chair by the Christmas tree and read from the Bible concerning the birth of Christ. Children will sing “Silent Night.” An animated film, “The Very First Noel,” will be shown and there will be a holiday buffet of fun foods.

A “Hallelujah Hop” will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, where 1950’s and 1960’s songs will be performed by the Taylor family singers. Danielle Taylor provided a transformation of the lyrics, making them spiritually uplifting, with the same beat with a different message.

Everyone in attendance will receive colorful crowns, glow-in-the-dark leis, festive blowouts and noise makers. A holiday film, “The Little Shepherd,” will be shown. At the end of the night, children will hold a count-down to the evening, door prizes and a traditional toast with Shirley Temples.
