AUGUSTA (AP) – A judge has frozen the assets of a former teacher who pleaded guilty to having a sexual relationship with a female student.

A judge granted a motion by the victim’s family to attach $800,000 of Christopher Dumaine’s assets pending the outcome of a civil lawsuit. The lawsuit seeks compensation for negligence, breach of duty to educate and failure to protect the girl.

Dumaine, who’s 39, is serving a nine-month sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of assault and unlawful sexual contact. Dumaine worked at Monmonth Academy before the incident came to light.
