Sunday service

PARIS – “Thoughts of Christmas in Words and Music” will be the focus of the 10 a.m. worship service Sunday, Dec. 16, at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., Paris.

The music will be under the direction of Forest Perkins, church organist, and Renee Wales will lead the Sunday school. The coffee hour and the annual Sunday school Christmas celebration will follow in Good Cheer Hall. All are welcome.

The third Sunday of Advent will be celebrated Sunday, Dec. 16, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Sunday school will start at 9 a.m. with a worship service at 10:15 followed by coffee, refreshments, fellowship and decorating the Christmas tree.

Christmas pageant

WATERFORD – The Waterford Congregational Church at the base of Plummer Hill invites the public to the annual Christmas Eve pageant and music program at 6 p.m Monday, Dec. 24. The children and adults of the community will present a re-creation of the Nativity, with readings and music of the community choir.

The service will conclude with the singing of “Silent Night” to candlelight.Children are welcome.

Women’s meeting

PARIS – The Christian Women United monthly meeting will be held at the First Congregational Church in Paris on Tuesday, December 18. Luncheon will be served at 11:30 a.m. The guest speaker will be Don Mayberry, who will also provide the music. Please call Pearl Anderson at 743-5724 for reservations.

Church service

CASCO – Casco Village Church United Church of Christ, Route 121, has invited all to a special Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24. Members will present “A Family Christmas Eve,” a service with some pageantry, special vocal and instrumental music, carols and a pastor’s children’s message.

At 11 p.m. there will be a musical service, “A Candlelight Christmas Eve,” featuring the choir and ending at midnight in a circle of candlelight singing of “Silent Night.”
