ROCKLAND (AP) – Police say two juveniles are responsible for vandalizing a historic schooner in Rockland this month.
The owners of the 76-foot J. & E. Riggin say the windjammer sustained tens of thousands of dollars in damages after somebody cut lines to the vessel, causing it to float free and crash into a dock.
The vessel, built in 1927, has been used as a passenger vessel since 1974 and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1991.
A 15-year-old boy from Rockland and a 13-year-old boy from Thomaston face charges of aggravated criminal mischief.
